Universal Truths - Challenging the Status Quo

Tell me what I want to hear!

I'm okay, you're okay.
We're going to take care of you!
We're all in this together.

  • Does the Fiction Support My Reality

  • Politicians Create Jobs Fairy Tale

Connect the dots

The 'Spin Doctors' politicians and mainstream media players have a gift for colorful dialogue and convincing presentation . . . however

fact rarely supports their position.

  • Why Zealots Hate Math . . . it blows their whole "spin" if you are willing to think a little and break free of the herd mentality.

  • The World Population Hysteria
Every man, woman and child on earth could live in one city the size of Texas . . comfortably! Really!

  • Ethanol "Gross Exaggerations"
Six claims that simply don't add up!

But they said it on TV!

Amazingly there are people who believe that "Freedom of Speech" or public speech means "Truthful Speech."

  • It Must Be True, It Was On TV

  • If it 'Bleeds' it Leads

  • Journalistic Bias (It's my story)

  • The E-85 Danger They Don't Want You to Know About.

Too often we are willing to take the statements or views of others, who may appear more learned, or are perceived as an "official voice" as fact
Often times we fall victim to 'group think' or 'herd mentality' because if "everyone is saying it" it must be true!  Right?

Interestingly, many philosophers (such as Nietzsche) and psychologists (such as Freud and Trotter) have studied the 'herd mentality' or 'mob behavior' and the social motivators behind the phenomena.    Volumes have been written on the topic but in short, it is usually the result of our fear, yes fear . . . that we may not be accepted by our peers if we aren't just like them, dress like them, talk like them, think like them, etc.   'Group Think' unfortunately, is perceived as safe.

Now of course those who aspire to have power over you (be it politicians, news magnates, special interest groups, or whomever) are all aware of these concepts, and they generally know how to play 'the masses' like a fine violin.

There are numerous reoccurring themes that the "Status Quo" setters employ . . . and we've all heard them before;
"The country is in decay and only I, my party, my product, our government, our faith, etc. etc. can save you!"

They count on the weakness of 'group think and heard mentality' to push their agenda.

Thinking for yourself takes effort, it takes personal courage, and it represents social risk (what if they laugh at you.)
